One of the regular assumptions here and elsewhere holds that, whatever a player's performance as a freshman, automatically add major gains to his sophomore projections. He had no idea what he was doing; now he does. Hence: he will be better. He'll probably be awesome, in fact, since who's good enough to start despite having no idea what he's doing? Someone awesome. Football Players Making a Difference Both On and Off the Field
Three Wake Forest University football players are among a group of WFU students and faculty spending the next two weeks in Kenya and Tanzania, assisting with the Nyanya Project.
Founded by Mary Martin Niepold, the Nyanya Project helps grandmothers in Africa who are raising their grandchildren who have been orphaned by AIDS. The non-profit group helps these grandmothers learn skills and develop economic self-reliance through a program created by Niepold.

Lindy's Sports Annals has ranked the Wake Forest football team No. 17 in its 2008 preseason national poll. The magazine, which hit newsstands this month, also projects the Demon Deacons to finish second overall in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

ACC football coaches: Whose seat is hot?
Now is as good a time as any to take a look at the conference coaches and just how hot their seats are in 2008. I should let you know that I don’t think any of the 12 are truly on the hot seat. Some are on warmer seats that others, but, short of some scandal, I don’t think we’ll see much change after this coming season. But I am predicting one coaching change after 2008.
