Raleigh, NC - At the first team meeting of 2009 football camp on Sunday evening, the team voted on the players that would represent it as captains for the upcoming season. The players elected halfback Jamelle Eugene, offensive tackle Jeraill McCuller and defensive end Willie Young.

Jamelle Eugene“These three young men are great choices,” said head coach Tom O’Brien. “They have shown great leadership throughout spring practice and in our summer workouts and their hard work and dedication has earned them the respect of their teammates.”

Eugene ranks ninth among active ACC players with 1,168 career rushing yards and has been referred to by O’Brien as “the energizer bunny” during his career. He has tallied 1,998 all-purpose yards during his two year career.

McCuller led the offense with 795 snaps played in 2009, allowing just two sacks all year from his right tackle position. He started every contest last season.

Willie YoungYoung is the most experienced player on the team with 1,667 career snaps under his belt. He ranks 11th in school history with 31.5 tackles for loss and 15th in sacks with 12.5.
