Miami vs. Clemson Post-Game Quotes

Miami Head Coach Randy Shannon

Opening Loss:
"It was a tough loss tonight. Clemson just made more plays when they had opportunities to do it. We had sloppy play all night long. If you play a team like Clemson, that has athletes on the football field, and you play sloppy as a unit, let guys hang around and hang around, they're going to (get) opportunities to win the game. I'm not making any excuses. We just played sloppy. The special teams aspect of it, we had a call made and guys chose to do something different. An interception for a touchdown, third and long we're supposed to get off the field - guys blow coverage. When you play that sloppy you're not expecting to win games."

On if he considered going for it on fourth-and-goal from the three in overtime after a penalty on the made field goal:
"No. It was fourth-and-three. It really wasn't going to make a difference."

On three consecutive running plays late in the fourth quarter and if that was too conservative:

C.J. Spiller Named National Kickoff Returner of the Week

Clemson, SC - Clemson senior C.J. Spiller has been named the National kickoff returner of the week by collegefootballperformance.com. Spiller returned a kickoff 92 yards for a score in the second half of Clemson's 24-21 loss to Maryland last Saturday. It was quite a return considering a teammate stepped on his left shoe at the 30 yard line, forcing him to run the remaining 70 yards with just one shoe.

It is the second time Spiller has been honored by the website this year. He was the national punt returner of the week by collegefootballperformance.com for the Boston College game this year when he had a 77-yard return for a score.

Spiller now has two kickoff returns and a punt return for a score this year. He ranks first in the nation in punt returns with a 30.0 average and is fourth in the nation in kickoff returns with a 37.8 average. No Clemson football player has ranked in the top 10 in the nation in both categories in the same season previously.

Clemson has lost two in a row and has a 2-3 record entering the open date. All three losses have been by four points or less, including the 24-21 loss at Maryland this past Saturday.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney did not announce any drastic personnel changes on Monday. "Our biggest issue is we have to focus on fundamentals the next two weeks. We have to coach them better. There is a perception and there is a reality. I know what the reality is because I live in the reality. We have to teach them how to win.

Changes to RV Parking Rules for Clemson vs. TCU Football Game

Due to the wet conditions in Jervey Meadows created by intense rain over the past 4-5 days, RVs and motor homes will not be allowed to park until Friday, September 25th, at noon. This decision was made this morning by our game management staff, in conjunction with our athletics grounds crew, to allow the ground to dry as much as possible to avoid further damage to this area. As in the past when this was necessary, we appreciate your cooperation with this change in policy.
