Three Duke Football Players Receive ACC Weekly Honors
Durham, NC - Three Duke football players -- Thaddeus Lewis, Will Snyderwine and Conner Vernon -- earned weekly honors from the ACC following the Blue Devils' 28-17 road victory over Virginia this past Saturday.
Thad LewisLewis shared Offensive Back of the Week accolades with Miami's Jacory Harris. In guiding the Blue Devils to the win in Charlottesville, Lewis completed 24-of-40 passes for 343 yards against a Cavalier defense that entered the game ranking first in the ACC and fifth nationally in passing defense by allowing 151.3 yards per game. The Opa-Locka, Fla., native threw the game-winning 42-yard touchdown pass to Vernon with 3:45 remaining in the fourth quarter.

With the 49-28 win over N.C. State at Carter-Finley Stadium, Duke snapped a 20-game ACC road losing streak. The Blue Devils last conference road win came at North Carolina (30-22) on Nov. 22, 2003.

State. The Opa-Locka, Fla., product completed 40-of-50 throws for 459 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for an additional score.

With his 40 pass completions, Lewis established a new school single-game record, bettering the previous mark of 38 set by Ben Bennett against Wake Forest in 1980 ... Lewis has now completed 20 or more passes in 14 career games and the 40 completions on Saturday pushed his career total to 737 to move past Steve Slayden (699 from 1984-87) into third place on Duke's all-time chart.

Durham, NC - Duke quarterback Thaddeus Lewis has been named the Walter Camp Foundation's National Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Blue Devils to a 49-28 win over N.C. State. Lewis completed a school single-game record 40-of-50 passes for 459 yards and five touchdowns in the victory over the Wolfpack.
David Cutcliffe and Thad LewisA senior from Opa-Locka, Fla., Lewis accounted for six total touchdowns while engineering the Duke offense to 502 total yards against an N.C. State defense that entered the week ranking first in the ACC in total defense by allowing 239.2 yards per game. His 459 passing yards mark the fourth-highest single-game total in school history and, with the five scoring tosses, he became Duke's all-time leader in touchdown passes with 59, breaking the previous record of 55 held by Ben Bennett (1980-83).
